Parent, guardian and mentor collaboration for a minimum of 10 hours per week.  Learning is a life-long journey.  Students must be “inspired” to learn outside the class room setting. An aggressive yet flexible structure for home learning may include:

  • A 10 hour per week goal of home/community learning and service including class subject homework and parental/grandparent reading time and/or “kitchen table” discussion on current events.Homework Parent

  • CHAMPS mentor club of community residents to be available every Saturday morning at each neighborhood school for student tutoring and/or community conversations.

  • Once a month parent/guardian education classes held at each neighborhood school taught by veteran retired neighborhood parents.

  • Leadership training to parents and guardians by local elected and community leaders held quarterly at Jefferson CHAMPS.

  • Jefferson CHAMPS resource directory listing local residents’ talents and skills.  This resource directory will be distributed to cluster school parents, teachers and students with contact information to allow the sharing of neighborhood talents with the local students.
